FIFA 20 saw a lot of improvements to Career Mode, but there’s still a lot more that can be done.
That’s why we made this FIFA 21 Career Mode Wishlist.
Let’s dive right into it!
The Essentials
These are the biggest features in our FIFA 21 Career mode wishlist, some of which we’ve been asking for several years.
There’s nothing more exciting than your favorite team revealing their kit for next season, but FIFA career mode teams keep the same kit no matter how far you are in the future. If we could design our own kits or choose different sponsors (maybe even have sponsor negotiations for an increased transfer budget?) it would add so much.

The current youth system is lazy and doesn’t bring in-depth options!
So why don’t improve all?
We would like to have our own U19 Team (alongside the first team of course)
With the option to look at the development of your players, within their training and the ability to push certain stats and helping them overall!
I love this concept, so it has to be included in our FIFA 21 Career Mode Wishlist!

The ability to:
- Visit or manage the u19 team (alongside the first team)
- Look at players' development in order to tailor their training
- Host meetings with youth employees, including players, to further push development
& more

Training in FIFA right now is ridiculous, as you’re only allowed to trade 5 players at a time, and can only train certain stats and attributes.
A change like that would be so amazing, you could have indiviudal training with more players and you can have 11-man training against a bot squad where you can try out new tactics… The players would improve also if they play good!

Welcome Additions and Changes
These would be some nice extra features, that’s why we added them to our FIFA 21 career mode wishlist
Wouldn’t it be great if we can negotiate with big companies about and having some of them as sponsors, who give you a specific amount of money if you win the Champions League, buy a world-class player, and more?
I think it would be pretty cool and this idea has so much potential!

As of right now we can only attend predetermined preseason tournaments, it’d be great if we could decline the tournaments but still schedule our own friendly matches to get a team run in.

We need Staff in this game so badly, if we don’t want to manage some things, we could just give it to them, like Arrange Friendlies, Training & co.
You can see an example for that below at the right bottom!

The ability to negotiate board objectives and ask for more funds used to be in FIFA, but now all we can do is follow what the board says. Adding this feature back into FIFA 21 Career Mode would be great.
It could look like that (Post below: At the bottom right)

And here a picture about that from fifa 14, in case you don’t remember!

It’s almost impossible to sign players on loan or even to loan out some of your youth players to get them more playing time. In addition, adding loan to buy offers back would add a different dynamic to transfers.
Well deserved place in our FIFA 21 Career Mode Wishlist! I don’t even know why they removed that from the previous years.

We should be able to get a wider variety of job offers in different leagues, it’s frustrating seeing the same 10-15 teams in the same leagues every save.
A more realistic career progression system would be nice.
We used to be able to watch simulated games hum along for 30 seconds or so and see events as they happened. Now, it’s just a 5 second load and it’s instantly the end of the game. It removes all tension, and a reversion would be great.
Managers are fired for poor performance in real life, and it should be the same in FIFA. It makes no sense to see Jose Mourinho still managing for Tottenham in 2025.
Major Fixes
These aren’t the most important issues that need to be addressed in FIFA 21 career mode, but they’re still big problems in FIFA so we mentioned them in our FIFA 21 career mode wishlist!
FIFA 20 introduced dynamic potential- where players’ potentials could change depending on how they play, but it needs a number of fixes.
First of all, it only affects players on the user team- leading to them developing much faster than CPU players if they get the right amount of playtime. Making it affect every team would be a big step in the right direction.
Furthermore, not every wonderkid lives up to their potential in real life, and there are talents and late bloomers like Jamie Vardy that come out of nowhere. This should be reflected in FIFA 21 career mode.
Manchester City’s 17/18 Centurions are still the only team to ever reach 100 points in a Premier League season, so why is it that the top 2 or 3 teams in the league regularly break that total in FIFA 20 career mode?
Every season there’s at least 1 team in one of the Top 5 leagues that reaches 100 points, and if you’re trying to take your Leicester City to a Premier League title it’s a bit hard when Liverpool is finishing with 37 wins and 1 draw.
A fix for realism where top teams finish with 80-95 points would be great.
Teams in real life don’t just stockpile 1 position, they identify positions of need and make signings to improve their squad.
It wouldn’t make sense for Liverpool to buy Varane and Manolas when they already have Van Dijk and Joe Gomez, yet those transfers are regular on FIFA 20.
An improved transfer logic for CPU teams in FIFA 21 would go very far to add to the realism of the game.
I’d be disappointed if they don’t fix that, so well deserved place in our fifa 21 career mode wishlist!
This was a big features to FIFA 20, and though they’ve added to the immersion they still need a lot of improvement.
Press conferences have no actual meaning, as long as you don’t choose the negative response you’re guaranteed to increase your players’ morale.
Adding different consequences to the choices based on the situation would be a great addition.
